Born Sacrifice is another amazing book from Sass Cadeaux. It does not specify on the cover but this novel fits in with the COTS series. It is a stand-alone book, but I feel it should be read between COTS and New Raine, as many aspect and characters are pertinent to the over all COTS story.
Chanterelle Thrice is a witch, one of the most powerful witches. She is 16 years old. Sent on a mission to help save lives, after a bunch of humans mysteriously died. Her power attracts rouges and other dangerous creatures.
Chanterelle was lead to believe that her calling is bleak, one she did not want. How wrong we can be when we are stubborn. What is a witch’s worst nightmare? Being sociable and touched by strangers.
The first part of her calling lands her in the middle of high school, in a huge town, surrounded by people. She must blend in. She must interact with humans, speak slang, and she must learn on the fly.
Things go terribly wrong when she finds out that her calling and her destiny collide. Will she live past this mission? Will she find what has killed so many humans? What will she do when she finds out who is behind everything?
All of Born Sacrifice kept me engaged but the last 25% of the book I could not put down. I was so enthralled by this book that I read it in one day. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would, Born Sacrifice has to be one of my favorite books Sass Cadeaux has written so far.
I bought BORN SACRIFICE.
